The full pricing model, published
MD Moving charges by the hour. The base crew is 2 movers at $165 per hour, with a 3 hour minimum on every job. If your move needs a bigger crew, each additional mover is $55 per hour. That's the whole model. No hidden tiers, no call for pricing, no rate that only appears after you've handed over your phone number.
The only thing outside the base hourly rate is heavy items. The only extra charge is for items over 250 lbs - a piano, a safe, a pool table, oversized furniture - and that charge is confirmed before booking, not after the truck shows up.
What a typical GTA move actually takes
Hours vary by home size and how much prep is done before the crew arrives. As a general guide:
- A studio or bachelor apartment usually runs 2 movers for about 3 to 3.5 hours.
- A 1 bedroom apartment typically takes 3 to 4 hours.
- A 2 bedroom home usually takes 4 to 6 hours.
- A 3 bedroom home typically runs 6 to 9 hours.
- A 4 bedroom home usually takes 8 to 13 hours, often with a larger crew.
Multiply the hours you expect by $165 per hour and you have a working range for your own move. It won't be exact - nobody's move goes exactly as planned - but it will be close, and it's the same math we use.
What changes your estimate
A few things push hours up or down: how many stairs or how far the elevator is from your unit, how much you've boxed up in advance versus what still needs packing, how far the truck has to park from your door, and whether you add extra movers to finish faster. An extra mover costs $55 per hour but can cut total hours enough to be worth it on a larger home.
Heavy items over 250 lbs - pianos, safes, pool tables, oversized furniture - carry an extra charge that we confirm with you before booking, not as a surprise line on the invoice.
What's included in the hourly rate
